Formation of a Institution based Rotaract at IIEBM

Our institutional goal has been to give back something to the society at large, and our students have translated this into practice by contributing substantially to the flood affected areas of Bihar and Orissa, blood donation, pulse polio initiative, distribution of food packets to nearby Slum Dwellers, helping the Traffic Police as and when required. This made us think that if all students get an opportunity to become part of Rotaract, they will be able to reach out to the underprivileged sections of the society in much more structured manner and for many more such activities / events.

We also had Rotarian Ashok Malhotra, father of late Capt Rishi Malhotra to address our students about his son and how he declined an opportunity to do further studies in XLRI and instead opted for the Indian Army to serve the motherland.

Capt Rishi Malhotra made supreme sacrifice for our country and countrymen by laying down his life fighting with the terrorists. He was awarded highest gallantry by the President of India. This particular act of bravery and rising above the call of duty has become a testimony for others to follow. Rotarian Malhotra explained how his son had developed leadership qualities by being a Rotaract.

The above instances and many more where we saw how our young students would be able to become better and more responsible citizens made us to go ahead and form a Rotaract at our Institute.
